Tips & Tricks – Notification when stationary

Use case

The “Notification when stationary” function is intended for scenarios where continuous motion detection is important. For example, if a person should remain in motion.

Functionality

If this function is switched on, the GPS tracker monitors whether it is being moved. Since detection is carried out via the integrated acceleration sensor, a GPS position is not necessary. If the device no longer moves, for example if it falls, it will report after a waiting period via push message that it is no longer moving.

If such an event is detected, the GPS tracker goes into alarm mode. In active alarm mode, the GPS tracker sends position data every 10 seconds, because there are situations in which the GPS tracker can lie still (i.e. not shaken) while still changing position. An example of this would be a train ride.

If the GPS tracker moves again, the alarm mode is ended and the GPS tracker switches back to the last mode used. The change is again notified via a push message. The active alarm mode can also be ended early via the app.

Note

Even if it is possible, the “Notification when moving” function should not be switched on at the same time as the “Notification when stationary” function, as one function is the opposite of the other. If both functions are switched on, the GPS tracker is almost permanently in alarm mode, which results in increased battery consumption and a high number of push notifications.
